To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Twisted ankle? About three years ago we were in the process of moving to a new apartment, when I lost my balance climbing into the moving van and twisted my ankle, so I thought. I went home, put some ice on it and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, to my horror my foot was swollen about three times its normal size. I hollered at my husband and we went to the hospital er. The first er doc told me there was nothing wrong with me and was about to send me home when I threw off the blanket covering my foot and hollered “DOES THAT LOOK NORMAL TO YOU?” Luckily the doc that I saw for my kidney failure came in and did an xray, which showed I had somehow dislocated most of the bones in my left foot. I had my first surgery the next day. It didnt hold. Lucky for me my orthopedist had just gotten a new partner. They told me he was the best foot and ankle man in North Texas. He is. He tried to put my foot back together with the second surgery, three plates and seventeen screws. But like many it didnt hold, sonow he is just watching and holding off on any more surgeries until he has no choice. And I am among the 20% who gets it in both feet. So now I have a lovely pair of fashionable black boots, which a very nice goth guy I met at the movie theater thought were “sick” Which is apparently the current generation’s version of bad ass. Me, I hate em, they are hot and hard to put on and off. Im lucky my doc isnt surgery happy and that i have a husband who doesnt mind helping me get my shoes on and off. Comments
