    I had rheumatic fever twice when I was a child. I made a point of keeping fit all of my life - Cross Country Running - Whitewater Canoeing - and Cross Country Skiing. I am now 70 and have Aortic Stenosis. I still did a 4 week canoe trip in the Arctic this last summer. But now I have a gradient of 75 in the Aortic Valve and have to have it replaced. I am looking forward to it as it means that I will be able to continue my active life for at least another ten to fifteen years. Then I am certain that further developments will have been made and I will be able to be active for another 5 or 10 years. [more..]
