To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Carpel Tunel Surgery I had carpal tunnel surgery at my right hand in January. When I had the first shooting pains one night in November 2007, I thought it was the beginning of periphal neuropathy caused by Thalidomide which I took against Multiple Myeloma. It was already June 2008 when a nurse and then a doctor diagnosed it as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The symptoms had become worse in the meantime. The fingertips of my middle finger, my pointing finger and my thumb had become numb, swollen und highly sensitive when touching anything like a spoon, fork, a zipper, etc… I had to wait for 4 months for the neurologists who recommended surgery. I still had to wait for the appointment with the surgeon and finally I was operated. Presently, about six weeks after the surgery, the right hand is slightly better, not as sensitive anymore but the fingers are still swollen and feel not comfortable when I touch things. I like sewing but when I hold a needle, I don’t really feel it and it tends to slide out of my hand. I hope my hand will improve. My left hand will be operated in a few days. I heard it is better to have the surgery as soon as possible and I had the symptoms in my left hand about six months ago for the first time. I wonder if my hands will get back to normal after the surgery has been done. Comments
