failed nephrolithotomy

I had a which 3.3cm stone in my right kidney which caused my kidney to atrophy and is now functioning at only 30% or less. I lived with constant pain for six years with doctors telling me I had irritable bowel syndrome and fobbing me off after countless tests, colonoscopies etc.

Finally a very wise young female doctor who was doing bloodtests for menopause discovered the stone which was just as well because by this stage this the ureter was blocked (hydronephrosis) and would have been very serious indeed if left undetected. The surgeon who I was referred to, a top surgeon in the state did a three hour percutaneous nephrolithotomy on me in september 2006, during which the stone broke, and subsequently have had two lithotripsies which were totally useless with lots of time off work and the surgeon subsequently washed his hands of me (in my opinion) I

hope anyone who suspects they may have a kidney stone, you will know because it is a very sharp referred pain radiating to the groin, with possibly nausea and vomiting, diarrhea , do not let the doctors tell you it is IBS!!!! Hope you have better luck than I have. I have to live with my stone which is now 1cm and inoperable.
