Just wanted to say thank you

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your stories. My mom was due to come out to visit me in San Francisco (her first vacation ever, she’s never even seen the ocean), and she wasn’t feeling well. She went to the doctor to make sure she’d be well enough when the time came to fly out here and they found a 7 inch tumor on her left lung.

In the past 3 weeks since, she has been diagnosed as level III stage lung cancer My older sister is with her now, and I plan on moving to Iowa to be with her and to help if/when she needs me. To tell you the truth, we have all considered this to be a death sentence and haven’t felt very positive or hopeful about the situation.

Reading some of these posts reminded me that sometimes we can prevail over situations which seem to be, for lack of a better word, hopeless.

This is all very new to us. My Mom’s 63 and in my opinion, pretty young, she’s also my best friend…so I’m looking for stories from survivors that I can share with her so she can find the hope and strength to keep fighting.

Again, thank you and everyone else fighting the fight, for sharing your stories and for providing some light at the end of this tunnel for people like me and my mom.
