pulmonary embolisums [embolisms]

by: Brenda B on Mon, Jan 28 2008

Hello my name is brenda november 10 2003 . I went to my doctor about my heavey periods. I was then 42 years old. My doctor put me on 2 birth control pills a day none stop, so when i finshed one pack i would start another pack.My doctor said this would stop my periods.

with in 5 weeks I had a pulmonary embolis [embolism] my lungs were full of blood clots. My doctor did not family history no tests were done nov 10 2003, I feel If she did a history and test she would not have given me the pills. As my grandmother died from blood clots and my mother had a stroke and blood clot at age 47. one year later i had another pulmonary embolisum [embolism] due to surgery. this very upsetting my family had to go through this and me. The doctors say i was very lucky to be alive as most people die from this. So ladies please ask lots of questions before your doctor puts you on the pill. make sure she does tests and family history.
