24/7 Vertigo
by: Richard
on Mon, Feb 08 2010
I have been living every single day with non-stop vertigo for the last 11 months. Essentially, I am seeing and feeling everything as though it is on a tilt. For the first 6-7 months(starting in March 2009), I had seen and felt everything as though it was tilted to the left. I had become used to it, and though it was always present, found a way to work around it. I would still have occasional bouts of severe dizziness but it was always present in some form, whether subtle or severe. Then, in November, I started getting really severe bouts more consistently, and everything started shifting as though it was tilting to the right, and this is where I am currently. Again, 2-3 weeks after the initial attacks, it was somewhat manageable again. However, once more now(Feb.2010), I am experiencing severe episodes more consistently, though it is staying tilted to the right for the time being. Like I said, it has been 24/7, non-stop since my first episode.
I have been to an ENT Dr., had an MRI gotten my eyes checked and new glasses to compensate, taken several medications prescribed by the ENT Dr.(Including meclizine and methylprednisolone), and done all the head exercises, all to no avail so far. I’m losing hope.
The only thing I havn’t looked into is a neurological based disorder(like the cerebellum). I have done a little research, and this seems to be my last option. I saw one chiropractor that specializes in this, but I ended up not being able to afford him, since his was a private practice. I am still looking.
I am also looking for any other suggestions. This has become debilitating, and affects my motor functions every day, I just want to live a normal life again.
Thank you.

- Dealing with Vertigo…… - by jesse - (Wed, Feb 24 2010)
I was recently diagnosed with Vertigo when a few nights ago I just didn’t feel right. Mine didn’t come on fast like a lot of others, but it was enough for me to go to the hospital and get checked out as it was so late and had no choice but to go to the ER. They ran me through an array of tests such as a pee test, blood work, EKG and a cat scan.

I am not sure yet if I have Vertigo. My doctor hasn’t been able to see me. However, here are the things I am dealing with… For the past year or so whenever I stand up, whether I stand up fast or slow, I suddenly get dizzy and very light-headed.

- Vertigo again - by jars - (Mon, Feb 08 2010)
My first experience with vertigo was in 2004. I woke up with it and could only crawl, with great difficulty, to the bathroom. I did not know what to do so I stayed in bed, unmoving, until the following day when my husband took me to the emergency room where they gave me shots of Valium which stopped the whirling.
